What is this, anyway?
Dinner and a Murder is an annual fundraiser for OlyCAP's RSVP program. 2010 is our 5th year. Entertainment is provided in the form of an interactive murder mystery, where you get to be the detective. You will also be served a gourmet dinner with dessert. Drinks are available.
When is it happening?
Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 5PM to 9PM.
Where does it take place?
The Port Ludlow Bay Club. Click Here for a map.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are $50 each and include admission to the show, a gourmet dinner and dessert.
How do I get tickets?
Click Tickets. You can order them online through brownpapertickets.com, or buy them directly from Bob Logue, the director of the RSVP program.
Who benefits from this fundraiser?
This event benefits the Olympic Community Action Programs, specifically OlyCAP's Retired Senior Volunteer Program. RSVP connects volunteers age 55 and over with service opportunities in their communities that match their skills and availability. To learn more, visit OlyCAP's website.
Is this really going to be a wedding?
Yes. Ramon Dailey, our writer/director, and Tiela Short, one of our actresses, will actually marry as part of the show. They will pick one of the nights to sign the papers, but you can witness their real ceremony either night. The wedding will be integrated into the story. Visit www.ramonandtiela.com to learn more about Tiela, Ramon and their wedding.
Should I bring any cash?
It's not a bad idea. Drinks are available from the bar. We auction off the best table in the house every year, and we also have some fun conducting "arrests" and posting bail during dinner.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely. Some of our most dedicated sleuths have been children. While there is some mild humor aimed at adults, there is nothing in the show that most children or parents would find offensive. Note that we got feedback from a couple of people that last year's Star Trek show may have been a bit too racy - although none of this feedback was from parents who brought their kids to the show. In the interest of creating a family friendly atmosphere, we'll tone it down a bit this year.
How does the audience participate?
Members of the audience are invited to solve the mystery. The first part of the show is a live performance that happens on stage while the audience spectates. After dinner is served, the audience gets a chance to question each of the suspects in turn. You then try to solve the murder based on the clues you have collected. You will not be called onto stage to perform. You only have to participate to the level you choose.
Can I come in costume?
Please do! We love it when the audience gets into the show. This year, as we're doing a wedding, feel free to break out the tuxedo, lesiure suit or that hideous bridesmaid dress your best friend forced you to buy.
